It’s hard to describe the beautiness of this music – and even harder to describe the music in itself! This Spanish trio plays some kind of laid back psychedelic rock with funky guitars and jazzy drums. They started out almost fifteen years ago as a hardcore punk band but has developed into one of the most trippy and inventive bands I’ve head in a long time. I can listen to this record over and over again and still get intrigued by the pure beauty of the dreamy soundscabes they deliver. It’s also hard to compare this band to anything else because they don’t really sound like any other bands in my book. What’s even more surprising is that they suddenly burst out in 1.20 min of psychedelic punk rock in the song: “Punk is Dead” – hell yeah, punk is so dead! Many of the songs are bound together by short trippy interludes which never seems misplaced. The last song called: “The Tree of Science” is a slow-floating masterpiece ending with a barking dog – and then as you think it’s all over a really freaked-out hidden track is revealed. Oh yeah, I want more, more, more ...
God damn, I have had some serious hangovers today. It was a great night and I ended up drinking way to many beers and Gajol together with Pede after the show in his motorcycle workshop. Anyway, the concert was pretty okay. Truckfighters opened and the sound was shitty and not many people had shown up at 9 pm. I had a couple of xmas beers and met up with Jon A. After the break Fu hit the stage and the party began. Sound was better but still not the best, but that's usually how it is a Pumpehuset. Great set with new and old songs. Saturn III was the highligt for me - great psychedelic rocker. Luckily I didn't have to go to work today ...

Because of the Mustasch concert Target Distribution held some kind of release arrangement for the new Monster Magnet at 7pm at Stalingrad upstairs to Stengade. Only 25 people or so turned up and you could win some older albums with MM. They didn't bring the new album!? Anyway, I didn't win shit but I met Kaj and started to drink some strong dark beer. Later Scott turned up and some other guys and we had more beers and a spliff of Kaj's pot - strong shit! The Danish band The Royal Highness was gonna open and they had Lasse from The Hors D'oeuvres as their new guitarist. I was looking forward to that because Lasse is such a great guitarist - and a nice guy. The Royal Highness got a lot of attention when they started out because they had a song written by Alain Johannes and Natasha Shneider. Anyway, the sound was shitty and you could almost not hear Lasse's guitar - too bad. Then Mustasch went on and started out in the usual way. Great band! Had to many beers and when I smoked on another one of Kaj's joint I almost crashed and went home. Luckily I live only 10 min away from Stengade ...
Yet another gig by Doomed Denmark. It went down november 2nd at Loppen and turned into another great night. Opener was Danish drone/noise band Chasing Eudaimonia and that was quite all right but not fantastic. Then all lights went out and Bohren entered the stage with only four 25 watt lightbulbs - one in front of each musician - and almost complete darkness! Completely contrary to the concert with Life on Earth. Anyway, the music was great and after a short while almost everybody in front of the stage sat down and just enjoyed the jazzy doom. Hard to describe the music but it was nice to chill out to. I bought the Black Earth album but haven't had time to give it a close listen, but I know it's gonna be very nice.
My good friend Nils aka Bongz is running his own little booking business. Not that he in any way tries to make a living or even profit from this, he just do it for fun and to get some cool bands to play in Copenhagen. I on the other hand likes to make grafics in Photoshop and therefore I make his flyers and posters for the gigs. I'm really not very good at this, but I try to do my best and hopefully some of the stuff looks okay - even for a professional grafic artist.
Sedated Angel claims to be the dirtiest stoner rock band in
My friend Scott just sent me an e-mail with the notice: "Far out Swedish band". So I had to see what the fuzz is about. And yes, this is pretty far out to say the least. Three guys from doom band Relic decides to play some more psychedelic music (and smoke some more pot i guess?!). The result is pretty okay as just being rehearsal jams. The song "Acid Whale Rider" is kind of a very far out version of Hawkwind's "Brainstorm" without guitar, but with a shitload of spacy effects. This of course made me check out RELIC as well. Jesucks, this is the doomiest doom I have heard in a long time. No hope - absolute despair. Give it a try ...
Thursday night Baby Woodrose is gonna play at Loppen. They released the album "Chasing Rainbows" on Bad Afro Records october 22. and held a really cool release party at Café Sveik. Only problem was, that is was also the first really cold night in Copenhagen and the place was so crowded that I almost froze my dick off hanging outside most of the time. But the Czech beers was great! The record is more back to the basic 60's sound than the previlous album and has a really nice vibe. Baby Woodrose is the mindchild of Lorenzo Woodrose aka Guf who used to be in the freak-machine On Trial back in the day together with bassist Anders. Beside On Trial and Baby Woodrose Lorenzo has also released drug indulged stuff as Pandemonica and Spids Nøgenhat. Anyway, all that you can read about if you google a bit.
