Jakob Olausson @ Repo Man Records

Nice, very nice indeed! A small and very intimate in-store "concert" with Jakob Olausson at Repo Man Records shop this afternoon. And even more nice, that I live just 5 min away from there. Cheap beers and only 20 people attending - how cool is that?! Well, to me it was pure coolness to hang with my buddy Bongz and grooving with Jakob and his psyhedelic delay ...

If you don't know this guy, read what Pitchfork had to say about his record:

"When De Stijl first released Jakob Olausson's debut, Moonlight Farm, on vinyl in 2006, it sent a serious ripple of astonishment throughout the folk underground. Olausson, a sugar beet farmer from Landskrona, Sweden, appeared to be particularly well situated to craft the sort of insular, deeply personalized outsider statement that has proven increasingly elusive in recent years. And true its promise, Moonlight Farm beautifully evokes the best of the acid-folk private press, yet still manages to set itself apart with the deceptive elegance of its design. Now issued on CD for the first time, the album has lost nothing of its disquieting allure, as Olausson's deliberate, unhurried performances and gnomic songs serve to ensnare the listener again and again."

I also bought his work as Joshua Jug Band 5, and that is some heavily p...sssyched out stuff!

Darker My Love - Free download!

"Once upon a time, there lived a group of revelers who made their homes along the sparkling landscape of the California coast. Amidst the glitter of the ocean and the sun-lit haze of the morning, they began to make music together, drenching their guitars in blissed-out fuzz, their drums pulsing and crashing like waves, and stretching echoing harmonies sky-high. And with each distorted squeal of feedback, with each note drifting upward and heavenward, gleaming in the shards of California sunlight, as if it were meant for divine intervention: Darker My Love was born."

Such Hawks, Such Hounds ... what is heavy?

Trailer for the up coming movie Such Hawks, Such Hounds featuring: Acid King, Bardo Pond, Comets On Fire, Dead Meadow, Fatso Jetson, The Hidden Hand, High On Fire, Mammatus, Nebula, Om, Pearls And Brass, Sunn O)))

"Such Hawks, Such Hounds explores the music and musicians of the American hard rock underground circa 1970-2007. Focus will be on the psychedelic and/or ’70s proto-metal-derived styles that have in recent years formed a rich tapestry of unclassifiable sounds. The film will chart the evolution of these styles and their creative components, while primarily serving as a character study of the musicians themselves—artists seemingly on the fringes of both straight society and hip indie circles. The filmmakers will show how these musicians work and live, and how they sustain careers outside the corporate rock mainstream. A picture will emerge of a vital art form built on accomplished musicianship and creative ambition—and a story that will appeal to viewers who like the music, and also those who don’t."

Three records again 'n' 'gain ...

ALiX: "Ground"
Okay, where did they come from? This is a record from '04 and completely missed by the world. Well done stoner rock with a female vocalist. And she can do her thing for sure. Not screaming, not freaking away. Just pure coolnes. Their next record will be produced by Steve Albini! So if you dig Siena Root ...

Ojo Rojo: "Amphetamine Rock EP"
Band from Berlin playing pretty straight forward stoner rock. They do it with lots of energy and therefore this is an okay record although they are not world champions out in eighter skills nor crafting. Who cares? They rock you the speedy way ...

Dead Meadow: "Old Growth"
Wow! Again this band delivers a "WOW" record. At first I found it a little dull compared to feathers. But after several spins this is of course another brilliant delivery form the coolest dudes in modern psychedelia ...

Black Mountain with Kid Millions

Oneida's Kid Millions joined Black Mountain on stage as a second drummer for their performance of "Wucan" (from the new album "In The Future") at the Nightmare Before Christmas ATP in December. In case you missed it, check out this video of the performance:

Too bad it's cut at the end, but then there's a full broadcast of Blood Meridian from Fabchannel here:

Det Knuste Øre and LowCut Radio

Det Knuste Øre is a Danish underground radio program with it's own blog. You can listen to/download recordings of the shows. They share the same frequency as LowCut Rock 'n' Roll Radio at Christianshavns Kanal. So you can also listen to/dl some of the LowCut shows hostet by Jens. Quality is pretty shitty, and I don't really know why ...

Barcrawl ... again

Hmmm ... the same old, same old story again. Beers and music and then off to town. This night we started out at Märkbar and had the female tender playing some Buzzcocks. Then off to Blågårds Apotek and a meet-up with Karen and some other chick. We were already quite drunk and jazz with Jan Kaspersen and Nulle was no good. Then off to this place called Valhalla supposed to be a rock/metal bar just across the street to Apoteket. There was almost no other people than us. But they did play Guns 'n' Roses and had some Rochefort beers that tasted more tan great. The girls came over and Lars bought 10 white Gajol shots. Then the girls left and we had to finish the shots and so on ... Then everything gets really, really blurred but after some discussion we headed for Louises - but it was closed. Then it was Temple Bar with Nanna behind the bar and I guess the DJ was someone from svingninger too?! Now exceptionally drunk we left Temple and Lars went home to. I remember I came back to Temple and talked to Nanna, but I guess i was quite difficult to talk to ...? Hmmmm ... then the classic cheese burger and to bed.

Another fucked up night and now hangovers again. And who the fuck cares anyway??

Some stuff for your pleasure ...

First of all LowCut #45 is finally online - it only took us 5 month!?? Anyway, it's a long story why, but the good news are, that we will continue with a new design and on-the-fly updating. So stay tuned ...

Secondly I just stumpled over a video of "De Skrigende Halse". It's from an ironic documentury movie about a danish punkband directed by Søren Fauli and with well known danish actors like Thomas Bo Larsen, Søren Pilmark and Sofie Gråbøl. There's also a soundtrack called: "Testament for Ronni" with all their great post-punk depressed songs. The movie became a cult phenomenon in no time and the band actually appeared at Roskilde Festival in 1996 fronted by 13.000 crazy people at the Yellow Stage! It's a keeper ...

3 recs spinnin' 'n' spinnin'

Fu Manchu: "California Crossing"
I've had this one boiling for more than one spin the last weeks. It's a great record and I don't really get the criticism about this - and never did! There's some cool hits and a really nice surf 'n' summer feel about the whole thing. Put it on repeat and just relax with these nice dudes.

The Spores: "Doom Pop"
Well, this is for sure something else than expected. It's Molly McGuire whom I only knew from Mondo Generator. The music is kind of intriguing and pretty hypnotic in some way. There's a lot of interesting stuff going on at this record, but I'm not really sure that I dig it for sure. Ask me again in three month ...

White Hills: "Glitter Glamour Atrocity"
Their latest record "Heads on Fire" blew me away so I had to get this one too. And it's maybe even better! I really think that GGA is a more varied and less full-trottle-space-rockish. I seldom agree with Pitchfork when it comes to psyched out stuff like Warlocks - and I now also disagree about White Hills!

Øjet i Natten

Watch Morten Vammens movie "Øjet i Natten" about Danish nightlife.

Interview in Soundvenue

I've been 8 days at fucking La Santa Club at Lanzarote with my work at Marathon Sport. The landscape was pretty astonishing with strange lava formations everywhere. Kind of spanish desert feel most of the places. Lots of cactuses - actually there's almost no vegetation besides cactuses and palms. The island looks like a foreign planet. The place in itself was complete tourist crap. It's a sports vacation place, so you can train any kind of sport you wish. Nice to run on the ridges of the lava hills and do some biking, both road and mountain.

Now I have the flu - fuck it!

Good stuff: Weather, free food, San Miguel, landscapes, training, fun and most of all - Anne Marie ...
Bad stuff: A lot, but especially the La Santa song: » Hør/download her
