Frozen New York and StreetHeart

Danish public television is usualy crap, but DR2 has it's moments. Tonight I have watched Kulturguiden about street art - and that was pretty cool. Not in the real cool way, but like "Hey, it's DR so it's kinda cool!". Not much new, but some Danish artists I haven't seen yet in Copenhagen - and then there was a short clip from Frozen New York that striked my eyes.

There was two young women talking cleaverly about all the street art. Oh yeah, you know, young - probably university students - fallen in love with an alternative, but harmless, kind of "dangerous artform". Anyway, they have a website if you wanna know about the Danish artists.

Daytrotter Sessions

"In case you’re wondering, Daytrotter is a recording studio with a website. We invite musicians to our studio, record their songs, and give (give, as in “for free, no strings attached”) them to you, from our website. Simple. Of course, if you’re here you probably already knew that. Please tell your friends. There are plenty of songs for everyone."

Sci-Fi Hi-Fi by Earthling Society

Earthling Society is back with their fifth album and this one is even more killer than the previous outings. Relying more on epic space rock and kraut feelings this album is one long aural journey to the hindside of your mind. He title track ”Sci-Fi Hi-Fi” is a cosmic space rocker floating away in a steady groove - not as hard as maybe Farflung, but more atmospheric. Second track “Tempel ov Flaming Youth” leads in with more than five minutes of lysergic soundscapes before it leads into another epic and dreamy spacefloater.

Well, this album just drags you in to the psyched state of Earthling Society and it’s pretty hard to let go of this - you know, you’re captured forever, you’re doomed! Anyway, when you might think that they cannot go any further your at the last track “E.V.I.L.U.S.A” – and they will go further, and they will take you higher – ‘cause this an 18 min blowout with intriguing guitar work and the whole band working overtime in out of time.

La Otracina – Blood Moon Riders

Have you ever had the feeling that music just overwhelms you so much it’s like being hit by the Stendahl syndrome? Well, I’m once again overwhelmed by La Otracina. Not just because the music is astoundingly brilliant, but also because they once again change their musical direction. It’s still founded in über well played progressive spacerock, but this record is more floating and more drowned in a wall of sonic overdrive.

The backbone is the completely fit rhythmgroup of Adam Kriney and Evan Sobel. On top you have magnificent guitar work by Ninni Morgia and layers of epic electronics to melt it all together. I miss words to describe the music, but the band itself describes it like: “a swirling myth of hard-psych witchery, progressive rock insanity, fuzzed-out jazz-rock wizardry, and epic space-metal fantasy!” Ohhh yeah, that comes pretty close …

Most captivating is the 15 min monstrous work of “Inner Mind Journey” that for sure takes your senses to a long spacey inner journey. This is progressive acid space rock making Sun Ra look like a midget – well, maybe not, but get the idea of a band able to freak completely and more competent than most modern avant garde artists. Another brain blast is “Zunblazer” led by monstrous pumping bass and drums with swirling guitar on top for 3:30 min before turning into a dreamingly floating and melodic piece and in the end drifting away into almost dark psych.

La Otracina is a well build smooth music machine; it’s the big block motor of modern rocking free jazz. It’s a trip – and you’re gonna like it!

Glen Trosch from Psychedelic Art Exchange

Psychedelic Art Exchange

Well, I've been away from this blog for a while - who cares anyway?!?

Bought a lot of music, went to some cool gigs, did some drugs - you know, the same old, same old. And btw also got a new girlfriend - again!

If I get the time I'll maybe write about the cool festival Endless Gratitude, Motörhead at Den Grå Hal - coolest venue for them in DK, La Otracina and Psychewalks of Eternal Karma. And other stuff, I have a shitload of downloaded pix to make me remember.

Also bought this silly thing. Fucking expensive and costed a lot in postage from Australia - and then the Danish costidy made me pay extra tax for it. But I love - it's so cool. My friend Nils bought one in Amsterdam after Roadburn, but online I only forund it down under ...
