Pink Mountaintops - New Album
"Pink Mountaintops, the slightly more mellowed-out solo project of Black Mountain frontman Stephen McBean, are set to release their (his?) third album. Jagjaguwar will put out Outside Love on May 5. A whole gang of Beam's friends in the Canadian underground rock mafia showed up to contribute, including Black Mountain members Amber Webber, Matthew Camirand, and Joshua Wells, as well as Jesse Sykes of Sweet Hereafter fame and A Silver Mt. Zion's Sophie Trudeau.
At the moment, Bean's only got one live show lined up, at the All Tomorrow's Parties Festival on May 8 in Minehead, England."
Why the fuck didn't I buy a ticket for ATP?? Stupid me ...

Dzjenghis Khan: "S/T"
Punked up garage rock ala MC5 with a hint of early Cream. Dirty and raw production. Lots of balls and no horseshit. Crank it up and get turned on.
OM: "Pilgrimage"
Another great record from OM. Some songs are really cool and the vibe is as usual. I like to listen to this one a lot. Properbly well know to most - they are the new mainstream ;-) - DL >>
Black Mountain: "In the Future"
Well, this one finally hit me for real. I must have had my head up my ass, since I didn't recognice this as a masterpiece at first hand. But it is. The songs are so cool. The drowsyness, the laidback vibe and the courage to make music like this stands out like nothing else in the future (sorry for the crapwords there, but it's true ...)

Black Mountain with Kid Millions
Oneida's Kid Millions joined Black Mountain on stage as a second drummer for their performance of "Wucan" (from the new album "In The Future") at the Nightmare Before Christmas ATP in December. In case you missed it, check out this video of the performance:

Three records spinning again 'n' again ...
Tokyo Sex Destruction: "5th Avenue South"
I picked this one up at a record fair as a promo for only 1,5 euro. Didn't really have a clue about the band, but I liked the cover. Now it's almost permanently placed next the CD player. Great album and great band from Spain. Cool if you dig garage rock in the MC5 meets The Hives way. Actually much more varied than Hives and with some surprisingly cool songwriting.
Blood Meridian: "Liquidate Paris"
I just love The Black Mountain Army and everything that comes off from their hands. The new Black Mountain is great, but thsi one is actually spinning more than "In the Future". It's so groovy and so laid back. It's psychedelic country rock and the songs are soft as bubblegum and yet with an sharp edge.
Atomic Workers: "Wall of Water Behind Me"
This is a trip to somewhere beyong your mind. This is the wildest dopeness. It's from the hands of former members of Sun Dial and That's All Folks. I still keep getting surprised about this record. It's a constant puzzle to my ears and mind. This is the stuff if you dig anything related to the term psyche ..
