"The legendary Stooges guitarist just died, 60 years old. Mr. Asheton is probably the most influential proto-punk strummer of the them all, I think around 70% of all the music we review here is directly or indirectly inspired by his immortal work with The Stooges. We're many who had the pleasure of seing him and The Stooges at Roskilde in 2004, in the pouring rain we witnessed that Ron still had it, that lethal, primal and sonic 6-string assault that changed the world back in the days of happy-go-lucky hippie bliss. A true American original has left the building to join Dave Alexander in the great beyond." By: Jens >>
What's the best way to pay tribute to this great guitarist? Almost all media have it's RIP Ron Asheton - right! But I guess that the best tribute I've heard about is WFMU's radioshow playing every version of "Loose" from "The Complete Funhouse Sessions". What a "fun" way ... allthough the host Kenny G is a complete jerk.
