Anders The silent boatman

"This is the debut show of the ex-on trial drummer, Anders performing songs from his two solo records on the Kommun2 label. He is backed by the ex-On trial musicians and Anders ex-Baby Woodose, currently in Aron, on drums. Very spaced out stuff, especially later in the show. NOt my best video, sorry. Arm was tired and I was stuck in the middle of the crowd. This was the end of the opening space out into the first song."

OM and Aron @ Loppen

Another cool nite at Loppen and another great booking from the hands of Doomed Denmark. Aron started out and I popped a G of shrooms just before. Wow, that went over the top. The room went completely out of proportions and everything topped in the last song. It was a great set with some completely freaking from Garage Claus. After that I had to relax a little backstage and when OM finally arrived I was in a great soft mood. They delivered a pretty cool set of about 90 min. Not topnotch and a little less loud and fantastic than expected. - but still earthshaking ly great. After that we hang with the guys and I gave them a bag of shrooms trying to explain Emil that they were picked at the golfcourse in her majesty Queen Magrethe's Deergarden - and that's no less the truth ...

I also bought all three CD's of Emils solo project Holy Sons, and that some nice trippy music - I love it!

Dragontears - New Album ...

The Baby Woodrose side project called Dragontears has just finished the recordings of their second album, entitled Tambourine Freak Machine. The release date is set for for November 17 and it will be available as LP/CD and download. As a teaser it is now possible to listen to the song "Sunrise" on the Bad Afro MySpace.

The album is musically quite similar to the first - 2000 Micrograms From Home from 2007 - but the band used a larger amount of electronics and the eternal quest for hallucinatory experimentation has made the music span a slightly wider range, transcending musical styles like neofolk, psychedelic, space rock and electronica. Hell, it must be the first album in 20 years to include a bona fide drum solo!

Dragontears has a fluent line-up and this time around it includes:

Lorenzo Woodrose - (Baby Woodrose)
Fuzz Daddy - (Baby Woodrose)
The Moody Guru - (Baby Woodrose)
Manoj Ramdas - (ex-Raveonettes, Spektr)
Janine Neble - (Alive with Worms)
The Hobbit - (On Trial, Spids Nøgenhat)
Aron - (Aron, Spids Nøgenhat, ex-On Trial)
Ralph A. Rjeily
The Twilight Princess

The tracklist includes the ten minute drug fantasy “The River,” which involves an impressive eight verses of illuminated spiritual delerium (and is not a Bruce Springsteen cover). Also, another eight verses of righteous anger and loathing in “Masters of War,” which is in fact a Bob Dylan cover. Other highlights are a 16 minute dark hypnotic journey titled “The Freedom Seed,” which features Danish punk diva Janine Neble from Alive with Worms - and the electronic experimental track “Dreamweaver 2,” which features delicately noisy circuit bends from ex-Raveonettes Manoj Ramdas, absolutely molesting an out of date drum machine and some Japanese toy keyboard.

Aron @ LowCut R'nR Radio

This sunday Aron made a very intimate "mini-concert" in the radio studio. I and three other cool guys had the pleasure of being the only audience. The band was in great mood and the vibe in the studio was harle-harle harle-rama - or whatever, you know, good karma and everything. Martin from Det Knuste Øre had put up his mics and recorded the 30 min of mindblowing performance.

Aron made some real killer guitar solos and stomped a floortom, bassist Sigurd played some cool slide-bas, amplifier noise and floor-tambourine. last but sertainly not least, Søren did some floating keyboard stuck between the legs of the upside down table.

Aron has uploaded all the songs at MyMusic free for ou guys to listen to and download - how cool is that? Very cool I would say. ... and if in doubt, I'm one of the guys clapping ...

Orpheus Label Night

After a couple of not so great concerts like Lack at Apperatet with way too many people and a realy shitty, lousy punkevening at Blågards Medborgerhus, yesterday at Studenterhuset was another fantastic night in the name of psyche! The evening was called Orpheus Label Night and featured Lotus Krokus, Nicolai Vilhelm Tell and Aron and the Blackbeacon Orkestra. Lotus Krokus opened with their cute and naive folkrock. They had added flute and steel guitar with fuzz and wah which was pretty cool. Yet, the music is a little too naive and dumb to really touch your soul. Next up was Nicolai Tell and we were pushed a little more in the rock'ish way, but still with the pretty naive and hippie like expresseion. Good performance, but not anything that moved the ground after the last tune. But then ... then the earth moved. Aron entered and gave a completely convincing lession in how psyched out horror folk has to sound. Arons lyrics is fucking brilliant and almost genious in their simple form. In the band was Henrik from On Trial on guitar making waves with his acidic playing. Garage Claus smacked up the drums and added some way out backing vocal. Soulshaking performance ... The Woodrose familie ...

Thursday night Baby Woodrose is gonna play at Loppen. They released the album "Chasing Rainbows" on Bad Afro Records october 22. and held a really cool release party at Café Sveik. Only problem was, that is was also the first really cold night in Copenhagen and the place was so crowded that I almost froze my dick off hanging outside most of the time. But the Czech beers was great! The record is more back to the basic 60's sound than the previlous album and has a really nice vibe. Baby Woodrose is the mindchild of Lorenzo Woodrose aka Guf who used to be in the freak-machine On Trial back in the day together with bassist Anders. Beside On Trial and Baby Woodrose Lorenzo has also released drug indulged stuff as Pandemonica and Spids Nøgenhat. Anyway, all that you can read about if you google a bit.

So whats the fuzz about a Woodrose family? Well, opening for Baby W tomorrow is Aron. Aron is the solo work of former On Trial guitarist Morten Aron who also played guitar with Spids Nøgenhat. He has released a couple of solo albums and tomorrow is actually the release gig for his new album "Djævlens Horn". On stage tomorrow Aron will be joined by Nicolai Vilhelm Tell and Hobitten who plays guitar in On Trial and freaked with Lorenzo and Aron in the one-off project Dragontears.

Dragontears was all about making an album in short time and record the stuff right away. Kind of a session like Desert Sessions or Swamp Sessions. Everything was mixed by Lorenzo and soundman Ralpf Rjeily on acid (so they said). The record "2000 Micrograms from Home" gained high critcal acclaims and was named as one of the best albums in 2007 by Walter from Roadburn.

Beside all this Lorenzo also produced and played drums in The Setting Son who released the selftitled album earlier this year. The record is recorded at Black Tornado studio by Ralph and is out on Bad Afro Records as well as Baby W, Dragontears and the live record by On Trial.

A live record with On Trial? Yes, after they almost blew the tent out at last years Gutter Island Festival at Masnedø Fort the recording by Danish National Radio was streamed and thereafter circulated in the trading society. On Trial chose to release the recording earlier this year as a vinyl only limited to 500 copies. Gutter Island is an institution in Danish underground music and also Baby Woodrose has put out a "Live at Gutter Island" vinyl only.

To round everything off, also the psyhfolk'ish Nicolay Vilhelm Tell is out with a record called "Mushroom Town" under the name of Nicolai Vilhelm Tell and The Teacompany. Nicolai previously played with Aron and the record is out on the label Orpheus Records which is run by - well, Morten Aron ...

The circle seems to be closed in some way. But hey, Lorenzo also lent his vocal to the project The Freeks by Ruben Romano from Nebula ...
