The Stevenson Ranch Davidians | Psalms, Hymns & Spiritual Songs

This band claims to come from the town Stevenson Ranch near Los Angeles, but I guess they come from outer mind! The band consists of Dwayne, Jessica, Cary and Bryan - four people, but one symbiotic group. This is dripping slow neo-psychedelic stuff in the electrified new weird American way - and it’s damn cool. It’s slow, sloppy, droopy and lazy. This music creeps under the skin and travel through your cochleae too reach the most sensitive parts of your pleasure centre. Much of their music reminds of both The Warlocks and Dead Meadow, but in a less distorted way. The lyrics are delivered in the same drowsy laid back groove almost buried behind the music. It’s a very well produced record with an almost pleasantly polished sound. Gentle, nice and full of good vibes and on the same time it is surprisingly trippy. Especially the last song: “No Tomorrow” is a distortion-drenched sonic freakout. So turn out the lights and make love on your flying carpet – or whatever you may wanna do ...
