Mike Olenick mash ups
"Gus Van Sant’s remake of Psycho is superimposed on top of Hitchcock’s original film in Psycho 2000. The video disproves that Van Sant’s version is an exact remake and at the same time creates new narratives from repeated moments and chance juxtapositions of both films. The video began as an attempt to merge two conflicting memories of the same events into a new cinematic memory."
Mike Olenick is a filmmaker, editor, and photographer. In his work, he obsessively appropriates, remembers, restages, and re-edits other cinematic works.
Also try: "A re-editing of Planet of the Apes, leaving only those moments where Charleton Heston speaks. The film’s narrative is reduced to a single apocalyptic monologue that is often humorous and all Heston."
