Major bummer... I totally forgot Captain Crimson on the scandi list

Lists are fucked up. You always forget, or miss stuff even though how you make the lists. And there's always records showing up in the new year, that was not included. Then you can make a 'Stuff I missed list', but that's also quite lame.

Anyway, I really made a bummer not including Captain Crimson as I really heard this record quite a lot i 012. Please forgive me ;-)

Horisont – Två Sidor av Horisonten

Yes, another Swedish 70’s inspired hard rock band! I guess Sweden ranks no. 1 in the world when it comes to this genre. Horisont picks up where Witchcraft and Graveyard laid down the cornerstones and they are out on Crusher Records who also nurses Dead Man. So if you’re a sucker for music inspired by Pentagram, Blue Cher and what not … and you dig denim and long haired guys this is a kick ass record. Horisont is all about blues rock and boogie with heavy riffing and long guitar solos. But also more Sabbath’ish inspiration may be heard in “The Unseen” which gives you everything from doomy atmosphere and slow riffing to beauty parts with killer vocal. Half the songs are with Swedish lyrics giving a cool feel to the songs and “Du Röde” is an ultra slow and emotional track giving you the special Swedish touch also known from a band like Svarta Pan. Killer new band!

Too much Fog ...?

Dimma (meaning fog) is yet another swedish 70's inspired band highly influenced by good old November. Amazing so many swedish bands who's trying to sound like that old band. Anyway, November was something else - no doubt about that!

Causa Sui at the Movies

Denmarks - without doubt - best psyche/kraut-rock band will be featured on film by Beofilm. The hour long movie will be a collage and story about the band and glimts of live performance, studio recordings and just the usual, usual "being in a band" stuff. Gonna be interesting, especially if theres some cool footage from the Duna Jam concerts.

And just to stay with these guys ... They played a great opening set for Witchcraft this last saturday at Loppen arranged by Doomed Denmark (who else?!). Really groovy psyched free jazz. Off course Witchcraft were the main act, and that concert was indeed mindblowing. Yes, I was stoned because of Don K's pot from Jutland, but the riffing was excellent and the pretty-boy vocal melted my soul.

Sgt. Sunshine rides again ...

Last friday we went over to Bodoni in Malmö, Sweden to watch Abramis Brama and Sgt. Sunshine. We met up at Scott's home - Bongz, Jens, Magnus and I. Went by car and because Scott and Magnus was going to meet Tobias, he dropped us off at Bodoni at 8. Okay, there we were, it was freezing cold, so we had a piss and a beer and a joint and went in as the very first people. Jens found out that they had strong beer as kvällens öl for only 49 swedish crownes - what a bargain! To make a long story short. Sgt. Sunshine opened and it was the old line-up. Great - almost Kyuss - show. I really loved it - especially the bass play. We had the second joint just before Sgt. Sunshine and had lots of beers all night. Abramis Brama were quite good, but my memory of them is pretty blurred. At 2 in the morning Bongz told me it was time to catch the train and go home. Thanks for that because I was so drunk I could hardly walk. Finally home in Copenhagen I left the station and realised I had forgot my beanie - damned. It was so fucking cold and windy that night. But worse - when I came home I found out that I had lost my keys. Shit, shit, shit - they were nowhere. Drunk as hell I looked everywhere but only found swedish coins in all my pockets. After thet I could only try and call my doughter - but she didn't reply. I then walked to her home - 10 min away - and rang the doorbell - no reply. I was lost - completely lost in the coldest night this winther so far. I looked for my cigarettes and suddenly realised that my keys were in the pocked of my hoodie inside my jacket!! God damn, how stupid can you get. Well, after almost an hour of stupidity I finally got home. And when I took of my hoodie - I found my beanie in the hood ... Well, always fun to drink strong beer!

DOOMED DENMARK strikes again

My good friend Nils aka Bongz is running his own little booking business. Not that he in any way tries to make a living or even profit from this, he just do it for fun and to get some cool bands to play in Copenhagen. I on the other hand likes to make grafics in Photoshop and therefore I make his flyers and posters for the gigs. I'm really not very good at this, but I try to do my best and hopefully some of the stuff looks okay - even for a professional grafic artist. On friday Bongz' next arrangement is gonna be Asteroid (S), Graveyard (S) and Sedated Angel (DK). This is a really cool lineup and especially Sedated Angel is gonna be interesting. It's their fist time to do Copenhagen. The venue is called Dragens Hule (Dragons Cave) and is a very small place but with the most psychedelic atmosphere you can imagine. You can drink, smoke cigarettes and marihuanna and do as you like as long as you don't act like a fucker. No need to say, that this is not an official venue - it's actually not official in any way!
